In the beginning ..........

First, let me tell everyone just how this blog came about. It was during a two-day induction programme in Apr 2007 that a few of us from A*Star Singapore got together. We had a great time of bonding and learning about the research community in Singapore. At the same time, we learnt that informal networks that emerge spontaneously from the research community actually go a long way in helping all of us in our professional career, and just making the research scene that much more lively.

The concept of a community of practice (often abbreviated as CoP) refers to the process of social learning that occurs when people who have a common interest in some subject or problem collaborate over an extended period to share ideas, find solutions, and build innovations. This blog was started as a CoP of the Singapore Research Community. Anyone and everyone can join and post messages. So, please feel free to post your comments, rantings or just simple messages or problems that you would like to community to help you out in.

Do remember that our postings are public at the moment, so post only those information that you feel are not confidential and that people reading it will not take offense.

Have fun !
